I’m so happy you’re here.
Hey! I’m Aisha — mom, self-taught home cook, and the heart behind this blog.
My name’s Aisha, and I’m the woman behind the apron at AishaRecipes — though truthfully, I don’t always wear one. Most days, I’m just like you: juggling a job, a home, a family, and trying to figure out what to make for dinner that won’t leave me exhausted.
I’m 35 now, but I still remember the first time I cooked just to feel better. I had just moved to the U.S., full of hope but missing everything familiar — the food, the language, even the way the markets smelled. I was working as an office coordinator by day, coming home to tired feet and hungry kids by night. I didn’t have time for complicated recipes, and I definitely didn’t have time for failure in the kitchen. But I did have love. And spices. And memories of my mother’s hands kneading dough like it was a prayer.
At first, cooking was about getting food on the table. Fast. Then something shifted. I started experimenting — mixing my culture’s comfort foods with ingredients I was discovering in American grocery stores. I’d play music, laugh at my kitchen disasters, and try again. Each little win — a fluffy pancake, a well-spiced soup, a dish my kids actually asked for — felt like a step back to myself.
And one night, I thought: Maybe I’m not the only one who needs this.
That’s when I started sharing. At first, just with friends. Then online. I never imagined strangers would write to tell me they finally felt confident cooking, or that one of my recipes became a Sunday tradition. But it happened. And it’s still the most beautiful surprise of my life.
AishaRecipes isn’t about perfect meals or chef-level skills. It’s about real life — tired moms who still want to put love on the table, beginners who need step-by-step support, people who’ve burned the rice but still believe in trying again. It’s about food that’s approachable, comforting, and a little bit magical — not because it’s fancy, but because it’s made with heart.
As the blog grew, so did the kitchen crew! My husband, Jecks, originally came into the kitchen to help with the endless prep and dishwashing, but he quickly found his own groove. Now, he’s the official Chief Recipe Tester, the voice behind our occasional grill and BBQ posts, and the one who makes sure every ingredient measurement is double-checked before it goes online. Our kitchen is truly a team effort, combining my comforting flavors with his focus on technical perfection and efficiency.
So if you’re here looking for something simple, something warm, something that makes you feel proud of what you made — I hope you stay. Pull up a chair. Let’s cook something beautiful together.k something real, together.
I’m so glad you’re here
